Simple Business Solutions - September Newsletter
From Byron & Tasha Burrell
Hello Friends,
September is here! That means fall is knocking on the door, football is back, pumpkin is trying to sneak into everything, and some of us are pretending it is sweater weather even though Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas may still feel like summer.
This month is full of meaningful dates, seasonal favorites, and one very important Medicare reminder as we prepare for the Annual Enrollment Period.
September Dates to Remember
Labor Day — September 7, 2026
Labor Day is a time to honor the hard work and contributions of workers across our country. We hope you enjoy a restful day with family, friends, and maybe something good on the grill.
Patriot Day — September 11
A day to remember and honor the lives lost, the families impacted, and the courage shown on September 11.
Grandparents’ Day — September 13
We celebrate the grandparents and grandparent figures who bring wisdom, love, stories, snacks, and sometimes a little “because I said so” energy.
Constitution Day — September 17
A day to remember the signing of the United States Constitution and the freedoms and responsibilities we share as citizens.
First Day of Autumn — September 22
Fall officially begins! Even if the weather has not gotten the memo yet, we can still enjoy the thought of cooler days, colorful leaves, and soup season.
National Coffee Day — September 29
For many people, this is less of a holiday and more of a daily survival plan. Either way, enjoy a cup!
September 30 — ANOC Letters
By the end of September, Medicare Advantage and Part D plan members should receive their Annual Notice of Change, also called an ANOC. This is an important document to review before Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period begins.
Seasonal Fruits of September
September brings some of the best flavors of the year. Apples, pears, and pumpkins are among the most popular and abundant fruits to enjoy during the fall season.
Apples
Great for snacking, baking, slicing into oatmeal, or turning into a warm apple crisp.
Pears
Sweet, soft, and perfect for salads, desserts, or eating fresh.
Pumpkins
Pumpkins are not just for porch decorations and pies. They are packed with nutrition and can be used in soups, breads, roasted dishes, smoothies, and more.
Spotlighting Pumpkin
Why Should You Eat Pumpkin?
Pumpkin is a nutrient-dense food packed with beta-carotene, which the body can convert into vitamin A. It also contains fiber, potassium, and antioxidants.
Pumpkin may support:
Eye health
Immune function
Digestion
Heart health
Healthy eating goals because it is naturally low in calories
And let’s be honest, pumpkin has range. It can be soup, pie, bread, coffee flavoring, or a front porch decoration. Not many foods can update your diet and your fall décor.
Why Reviewing Your ANOC Matters
Each fall, Medicare Advantage and Part D plans send beneficiaries an Annual Notice of Change, commonly called an ANOC. This notice explains the changes your plan will make for the upcoming year.
It is important to review your ANOC because your plan can change from one year to the next, even if you keep the same insurance company and plan.
Changes may include:
Monthly premiums
Deductibles, copays, and coinsurance
Maximum out-of-pocket costs
Prescription drug coverage, drug tiers, and pharmacy networks
Doctors, hospitals, and other provider networks
Prior authorization or step-therapy requirements
Dental, vision, hearing, OTC, fitness, transportation, and other extra benefits
One of the biggest mistakes a Medicare beneficiary can make is assuming:
“My plan worked well this year, so I’ll just keep it.”
Your plan may still be a great fit, but the ANOC helps you confirm that before the new year begins.
Byron or Tasha will be calling later this month and into early October to schedule Medicare plan reviews. During your review, we can go over your ANOC and help make sure your current plan will continue to meet your medical, prescription, and financial needs for the coming year.
Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, so reviewing your coverage ahead of time can help you be prepared to make any needed changes.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday to all our September clients!
We hope your birthday month is filled with joy, laughter, good food, and people who make you feel loved and appreciated.
May this next year bring you blessings, peace, good health, and plenty of reasons to smile.
Closing Thought
September is a wonderful reminder that seasons change — and sometimes plans do too.
As fall approaches, take time to enjoy the simple things: family, friends, cooler evenings, fresh fall foods, and a good cup of coffee.
And when your ANOC arrives, do not toss it aside. Set it somewhere safe, and we will be glad to help you review it.
Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your family. We are grateful for the opportunity to help individuals and families across Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas with guidance, support, and solutions that matter.
Blessings,
